STUDENT HANDBOOK
About the Student Handbook on Navigating Your Leave of Absence and Disability Accommodations at Yale

This handbook was drafted over the summer of 2024 by Elis for Rachael intern Amber Zettle (TC ‘25). We are grateful to Amber for their attention to detail and for their deep concern for fellow students.

In honor of Rachael, we put together this manual to assist Yale students facing the decision of asking for help or of taking time away from campus to prioritize their mental health. Both of those things – prioritizing one's mental health in general – can be very daunting decisions in such a competitive environment. The goal of this manual is that knowledge of resources or proper procedures will never be an additional deterrent to a student considering reaching out for help.

Our hope is that you will reference this manual, download it, redistribute it, in order that it may reach the widest audience possible of students who could benefit from it.

This first edition was launched at the April 2025 Mind Over Matter fair on Yale's Campus. If you have feedback on this manual, please email us at findus@elisforrachael.org.
